नवरात्रि स्थापना दिवस के प्रथम दिवस देवी दुर्गा के शैलपुत्री रुप की पूजा करने का विधान बताया गया है। इसदिन को नारी के बालरूप अर्थात कन्या के सम्मान के दिवस रुप में मनाया जाता है। शारदीय नवरात्रा पूर्णतया देवी दुर्गा अर्थात नारी को समर्पित है।

भारतीय शास्त्र में नारी को देवी के रुप में माना गया है। इन्हें जगतजननी की उपमा से भी विभूषित किया गया है। शैलपुत्री का अर्थ पर्वत दुहिता के रुप में चुना गया है। भगवान शिव की अर्धांगिनी माता पार्वती को पर्वत पुत्री कहा जाता है।

पर्वत पुत्री अर्थात प्रकृति का जड़तम स्वरूप अर्थात पदार्थ की ठोस अवस्था है। योग साधना में इसको मूलाधार चक्र कहा गया है। मूलाधार चक्र पर धर्म, अर्थ, काम व मोक्ष नामक चार वृत्तियाँ है। धर्म माने कर्तव्य कर्म, अर्थ माने जीविकोपार्जन कर्म, काम माने सांसारिक कर्म तथा मोक्ष माने आध्यात्मिक कर्म। मनुष्य के समक्ष प्रथम कर्म उसका कर्तव्य होता है। इसलिए कर्तव्य पाठ सबसे पहले पढ़ाया जाता है। भारतवर्ष में कर्तव्य पाठ के पढ़ाने वाली पुस्तक का नाम रामायण है। जिसमें आदर्श पुत्र, भाई, पिता, माता, पति, पत्नी, राजा, मंत्री, नागरिक इत्यादि के कर्तव्यों का चित्रण किया गया है। मनुष्य का द्वितीय कर्म जीविकोपार्जन होता है। मनुष्य को अपनी तथा अपने परिवार की भौतिक आवश्यकता की पूर्ति स्वयं करनी चाहिए। इसलिए कहा जा सकता है कि भारत की अर्थव्यवस्था में शतप्रतिशत रोजगार का सिद्धांत स्थापित था। मनुष्य का तृतीय कर्म सांसारिक दायित्व है। जगत के प्रति दायित्व निवहन को सांसारिक कर्म कहा जाता है। मनुष्य का चतुर्थ कर्तव्य आध्यात्मिक कर्म है। आत्मज्ञान तथा साधना को आध्यात्मिक कर्म माना गया है।

नवरात्रि का प्रथम दिवस जिसे शैलपुत्री की पूजा के रूप में चित्रित किया गया है, वह मनुष्य को पृथ्वी तत्व से उपर उठने की शिक्षा देता है। जड़ से सूक्ष्म की ओर चलने का प्रथम दिन पृथ्वी तत्व को समझने तथा इससे अपने आप को मुक्त करने की साधना का ज्ञान है। मूलाधार चक्र मेरुदंड की अंतिम अस्थि में इंडा, पिंगला तथा सुषुम्ना के प्रथम संगम पर स्थित एक चक्र है। तंत्र के अनुसार यहाँ पर पृथ्वी तत्व विशेष रंग, विशेष आकार एवं विशेष बीज मंत्र है। साधक इस पर नियंत्रण पाकर विशेष उपलब्ध को प्राप्त करता है। जो साधक भविष्य को देखकर गुप्त रखे गए हैं, जिसका रहस्योद्घाटन गुरु की कृपा से आचार्य करते हैं। तंत्र में बताया गया है कि मूलाधार चक्र में कुलकुडंलनी शक्ति का वास है। नवरात्रि तंत्र साधना में कुंडलिनी के जागरण को इंगित करने के लिए मनाया जाने वाला उत्सव था। चूंकि कुंडलिनी स्त्रीलिंग तथा शक्ति स्वरुपा है, इसलिए उसे कालांतर में पंडितों ने दुर्गा का रुप प्रदान किया गया। यहाँ कुंडलिनी का बालरूप दिखाने के लिए कन्या रुप शक्ति को शैलपुत्री कहा गया है। यही नवरात्रि के प्रथम दिवस का महात्म्य है।

The law of worshiping the Shailputri form of Goddess Durga has been told on the first day of Navratri foundation day. This day is celebrated as a day to honor the child form of a woman. Shardiya Navratra is completely dedicated to Goddess Durga i.e. Woman.

In Indian scriptures, woman is considered as a goddess. They have also been adorned with the analogy of Jagatjanani. The meaning of Shailputri has been chosen as Mount Duhita. Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva, is called the daughter of the mountain.

Parvatputri means the inert form of nature, that is, the solid state of matter. In yoga practice, it is called Muladhara Chakra. On the Mooladhara chakra there are four circles namely Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Dharma means duty, Artha means livelihood, Kama means worldly work and Moksha means spiritual action. The first action before a man is his duty. That's why the duty lesson is taught first. The name of the book that teaches duty lessons in India is Ramayana. In which the duties of ideal son, brother, father, mother, husband, wife, king, minister, citizen etc. have been depicted.The second karma of man is earning a living. Man should fulfill the material needs of himself and his family on his own. Therefore it can be said that the principle of 100% employment was established in the Indian economy. The third karma of man is worldly duty. The fulfillment of responsibility towards the world is called worldly karma. The fourth duty of man is spiritual action. Self-knowledge and spiritual practice are considered as spiritual activities.

The first day of Navratri which is depicted as the worship of Shailputri teaches man to rise above the earth element. The first day of walking from the root to the subtle is the knowledge of the spiritual practice to understand the earth element and free oneself from it. The Muladhara Chakra is a chakra located at the first confluence of the Inda, Pingala and Sushumna in the last bone of the spine. According to Tantra, the earth element here has a special color, a special shape and a special root mantra. Sadhak attains special attainment by attaining control over it. Those sadhak who have been kept secret after seeing the future, whose revelation is done by the Acharya by the grace of the Guru. It has been told in Tantra that Kulkudalani Shakti resides in the Muladhara Chakra. Navratri was a festival celebrated to awakening of Kundalini in tantra practice. Since Kundalini is feminine and Shakti form, she was later given the form of Durga by the pundits. Here to show the child form of Kundalini, the girl form of Shakti has been called Shailputri. This is the significance of the first day of Navratri.
